Responsible digital guide

As early as 2003, I was surprised by the fact that we let Internet operators push us to data consumption without even imagining the consequences for the planet.

The Green Office gives some recommendations in its guide to responsible digital use.

Here are some personal choices that allow me to go even further.

I don't use the Cloud, because I don't know who has control over my data, and what can be done with it. The external hard drive and the USB key are good ways to transfer data. Transfer via Bluetooth (low energy) is sometimes a very useful and low power solution.

Whenever possible, I use the wired network. I don't use social networks much because they are addictive. Beware of scrolling internet pages. Camera and microphone are only connected when necessary. When possible, I don't accept cookies, or only the necessary ones. Let's buy local when possible. Let's not order 3 pairs of shoes and send 2 back, even if the return is free. The few connected objects I own are not activated (Wifi or 4G). We have to admit that these devices are spying on us.

Do we really need cryptocurrencies and artificial intelligence?

Let's see how we can do without them, as they are very power hungry.

I only buy a new camera when the old one no longer gives me satisfaction. The main advantage is that I know its possibilities well and make the most of them.
