The different carpooling solutions

Ugo

"Tired of traffic jams? Be part of the solution" is the slogan of Ugo, the carpooling platform developed by the University of Liege.

This platform saw the light of day in 2017 and is the result of a course project by students of the Master of Computer Science and Civil Engineer in Computer Science (Faculty of Applied Sciences) in partnership with various actors of the institution (rectoral college, students, researchers, Fédé, administrative services, etc.). Since its launch, the platform has continued to grow and today it has more than 4,000 users.

Who is UGo for?

  • all members of the ULiège community (students and staff members),
  • uLiège alumni,
  • members of the staff of the University Hospital of Liege,
  • agents of the city and the CPAS of Liege,
  • the members of the staff of the Province of Liege,
  • and students of the HEPL.

How does it work?

  • Register on the platform. The identity of users is verified at the time of registration to ensure optimal security.
  • Register your trips on UGo, specifying a point of departure, a point of arrival and a time slot during which you wish to make them. Note: Through the UGo platform, you can also create recurring trips. This is not limited to a single trip.
  • The automatic connection system will connect you with users in a short period of time. The current match rate is 30%, a 1 in 3 chance of finding a connection!
  • UGo will offer you various meeting points adapted to carpooling, which allows you to get in and out of the car safely.

The platform has been designed with the user in mind, so it has the advantage of being a practical, ergonomic and user-friendly tool. You can use it via your computer or via a mobile device (a mobile application is also available).

BlaBlaCar

Another carpooling solution is the community platform BlaBlaCar. The principle is the same as the UGo platform with one exception: here the service is paid.

How does it work?

  • Register on the platform.
  • Publish your trip by indicating a departure point, an arrival point, the date and time of departure, the number of seats available and the price per seat.
  • A filter allows other users to find your offer.
