I grew up in Aachen, where my parents were able to give me early independence thanks to the bicycle. I rode it all the time - it's hard to imagine my childhood and adolescence without my bicycle! In Liège, I didn't ride one until 10 years ago, when I finally regained the freedom not to waste time in the car, but to spend quality time on my journeys, by bike. In fact, most of the time I do this without electric assistance, to do a bit of sport for which I otherwise find it hard to find the time: at this stage of my life, I'd much rather be able to spend my free time with my family on Sundays... and my quality of life is so much better as a result! These active journeys to work and from one site to another not only give me the opportunity to be in immediate contact with "the seasons" (I'm thinking, for example, of that smell of autumn leaves wet with rain as I drive along the Ravel), our beautiful region (seen from another perspective than the road) and other people (who, like me, aren't stuck in a closed box on the move), but also, and above all, to create a precious space where I'm free to think, to let my brain rest or my thoughts fly. For me, it is a chance and a privilege.
