City of Liege parking solutions
In addition to the parking spaces provided by the university, there are many other parking facilities in Liege. You will find below different maps by type of infrastructure that will allow you to locate their location:
Cages
To be used for short term parking, this category of parking represents more than 3000 bicycle spaces. In addition to the classic hoops, there are inverted U's, special posts, racks, etc. It is important to note that, due to recent construction, some of these may be temporarily displaced or unavailable.
Please note: unfortunately Liege and its campuses are not spared from bicycle theft. We recommend that you visit our "Prevention of theft" section, where you will find, among other things, advice on the quality of your lock and on the choice of a parking place.
Bike shelters
You will also find 9 bike shelters in Liege and its surroundings, which represents a total of 72 bikes. Even if there are not many of them, the city of Liege has studied their location so that they are located near the poles of attractiveness. They are covered parking lots that you can use for a more or less long time.
Bicycle boxes
For even more security, Vélocité (an initiative in partnership with the City of Liege and Pro Velo) provides 25 secure bicycle boxes for residents. Unlike shelters or hoops, this parking infrastructure is not free but the price remains affordable (75€ per year) and you have a doubly secure system. Indeed, to open this box containing 4 to 5 bikes, you must first open an external lock (only the owners of the bikes contained in the box have access to it). The lock can be opened with a magnetic card (for a deposit of 25€) or a smartphone. Then, the bikes inside the box are attached to a rack secured by a personal lock.
If you are interested in this system, it is useful to know that the rental is reserved for residents living within 200m of one of these boxes. If you meet this condition, you can apply for the rental via this link. Please note that you can also apply for for a bike rack near your home if there is not one yet.
Free bicycle parking
A free parking lot located at Place Saint-Michel 56 in Liège has been made available to all cyclists by the non-profit organization Liège Centre. This parking, in addition to being free, is located in a covered room and is supervised by stewards. You will find lockers for your accessories, bike racks anchored to the ground but also plugs to recharge electric bikes.
